What is Rotogravure Printing?
Rotogravure printing is an intaglio printing process that uses rotary printing capable of producing continuous tone images.
There is a large copper-plated steel cylinder engraved with a required design made by laser or diamond-tipped stylus. These engravings are known as cells and etched by different depths and deeper cells provide acute colours.
There is a separate cylinder used for every colour used in the printing. Then the cylinders are submerged in the ink fountain and roller rolls and refill the cells. There is a blade that wipes the excess before it is transferred from cell to material. After that, the material is dry before the next printing.
